2025 Michael Perham Sanctuary Scholarship at University of Gloucestershire
The University of Gloucestershire has announced the Michael Perham Sanctuary Scholarship 2025/26, a transformative opportunity for students from forced migration backgrounds to access higher education.
Named in honor of the late Rt. Revd Michael Perham, former Bishop of Gloucester and University Pro Chancellor, the scholarship aims to break down barriers and support students facing unique challenges in pursuing their academic dreams.
Benefits of the Scholarship
The Michael Perham Sanctuary Scholarship provides:
- Full Tuition Fee Waiver for the standard duration of an undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree program.
- Additional Financial Support to help cover other essential costs, subject to eligibility for UK Student Finance Maintenance Loans or other funding.
Important Note: The scholarship does not include accommodation or relocation costs for those eligible for UK Student Finance Maintenance Loans or those residing in Home Office-provided accommodation. Applicants must outline how they plan to cover these expenses in their application.
Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is open to applicants who meet the following criteria:
1.) Forced Migration Status
Applicants must have a recognized status, such as refugee, asylum seeker, humanitarian protection, or similar. Dependents of such individuals may also apply.
2.) Residency in the UK
- Applicants must be living in Gloucestershire or within commuting distance.
- Those further afield must demonstrate how they will fund commuting or relocation costs.
3.) University Admission
- Candidates must hold an offer for an undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree program at the University of Gloucestershire.
4.) Asylum Seekers
- Applicants seeking asylum must have submitted their request to the UK Home Office before applying.

Submit the scholarship application form by 15 March 2025, including:
- Evidence of immigration status.
- Contact details for a referee (e.g., teacher, employer, or community leader).

- Interviews: Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed on 16 May 2025 (in-person or via MS Teams).
