Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has advised Nigeria to exercise caution before their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group-stage matches.
Nigeria was put in Group C with Tanzania, Uganda, and former champion Tunisia in the AFCON draw earlier this week.
The Super Eagles campaign will begin on December 23 against Tanzania, and four days later, they will play Tunisia in a crucial match.
On December 30, they will play their final group-stage match against Uganda at Fez Stadium, the site of all of their group matches.
The 2013 AFCON winner has advised Super Eagles Eric Chelle on how to win 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
Super Eagles legend Joseph Yobo advised Victor Osimhen to accept Manchester United’s offer.
Yobo’s advice to Super Eagles
Yobo has warned the Super Eagles that the first aim is to get through to the knockout phase after being paired in a tricky group.
Speaking on ESPN, he said, “A good start is very important. The first two games are very important. It is very, very crucial.
“But the Tunisia game could be the one that decides group winners, so if we can take six points from the other two, we don’t want to chase Tunisia.
“That is obviously a big game. They are an experienced side, always frequent at the AFCON. We are used to them, we have played them many times, even during my own time, and they are used to us as well. So it’s going to be a big clash. It’s the biggest game in our group.
“That being said, you have Uganda and Tanzania. On paper, they might be the underdogs, but we saw at the last AFCON—underdogs were pulling surprises.”
