The Chelsea star has said one thing he definitely will not do when he hangs up his boots.

Cole Palmer has revealed one career path he will not pursue once he retires from playing football. 

Palmer, 22, has appeared 75 times in the Premier League (as of January 31, 2025), scoring 36 times and setting up 18, underscoring his ascent as one of the English top-flight’s finest performers.

While the playmaker has impressed with his goalscoring contributions since leaving Manchester City for Chelsea in the summer of 2024, the ease with which he plays the game is his standout characteristic.

However, that on-field effortlessness will not translate well to a career path Palmer does not see himself choosing after his playing days are over.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Sticker Book Challenge, where players are asked pertinent questions about their careers, the 22-year-old chose the best attributes from select teammates, picked his dream attack partner and highlighted the most iconic celebration in the Premier League era. 

When asked if he would consider punditry like many ex-footballers, Palmer’s response was typically brief, a characteristic that the Chelsea man believes is detrimental to be considered for such roles.

“Being a pundit? I do not think my answers will be long enough to be a pundit,” said Palmer. “I don’t know what I’d do, might be a scout.”

The Chelsea star named Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney as his idol growing up and highlighted Mario Balotelli’s “Why Always Me” celebration as the most iconic.

What next for Palmer?

Palmer is expected to play when Chelsea return to Premier League action on Monday, February 3, against West Ham United.
