Real Madrid’s Florentino Perez and LaLiga are still at loggerheads over accusations of “destroying football”

However, LaLiga president Javier Tebas remains one of its fiercest critics, and he has once again taken aim at Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, accusing him of harming football rather than saving it.
Tebas slams vague Super League
Speaking to El País (via Relevo), Tebas was clear in his stance that Perez is the mastermind behind the Super League, despite its many failed attempts to launch.

“The first thing is to make it very clear who is behind it,” Tebas said, adding, “Which it seems that they never want to say: it is Florentino Perez. We have to show our faces.”
He also slammed the constant format changes proposed by the Super League organisers, suggesting that the project lacks clarity and a sustainable vision, saying, “It is not serious that we have three formats in three years. We cannot be talking about saving football, as President Perez said, and doing this.”

Tebas argued that the financial model of the Super League, which at times claims to offer free football during the week, would devastate domestic leagues, making them financially unsustainable.

Despite huge opposition from UEFA, LaLiga, and major European leagues, the Super League remains a key ambition for both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Tebas remains firm that the Super League would harm rather than help football, saying, “More than saving football, it seems that Real Madrid is trying to destroy it.”
