The Fulham star has named former Super Eagles legend as his idol.
Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has credited former Super Eagles legend Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha as his biggest footballing inspiration and Idol.
The former Arsenal star in an interview on the “Is this seat taken podcast,” spoke highly of his uncle’s impact on his career.
Iwobi added that Okocha’s influence extended beyond the pitch as well.
Fulham have reportedly contacted AC Milan for Samuel Chukwueze’s signature.
He said, “In the sports? Forever my uncle, Jay Jay Okocha. I have to shout him out all the time. On and off the field. I used to go watch his matches and training sessions,” Iwobi revealed.
He continued, “He is the one who really taught me how to express myself. Off the pitch he is always advising me on how to be professional, manage my money, to move, stay humble and grounded. So he will always be my idol.”
Fulham secured an important win against Newcastle at St James Stadium following a second-half performance.
The 28-year-old AFCON silver medalist has recorded seven goals and three assists for Fulham this season.
