Barcelona desperate for Isak

Barcelona have been scouting Isak since his days at Real Sociedad, and his performances in the Premier League have only heightened their interest.

The 24-year-old has been in sensational form this season, scoring 17 league goals—a tally only bettered by Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland.

Despite missing out on Isak when Newcastle signed him for €70m in 2022, Barcelona still see him as a potential long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

However, any move would be complicated by the club’s financial situation and the current squad structure.

Barcelona’s biggest obstacle to Isak signing

Barcelona’s only realistic chance of signing Isak would be if Lewandowski leaves at the end of the season.

However, the Polish striker has reportedly already agreed to stay until at least 2026, making an Isak transfer highly unlikely in the short term.

The Catalan club is satisfied with its current striker options, including Ferran Torres and Vitor Roque, though the latter could be sold in the summer.

While Barcelona have returned to La Liga’s 1:1 financial rule, which allows them to spend more freely, a move for Isak would still require significant financial maneuvering.

With Arsenal and Liverpool also monitoring Isak, Barcelona must act quickly if they want to secure their dream signing. However, unless Lewandowski departs earlier than planned, Isak’s move to Camp Nou may have to wait.
