Newcastle and Senegal icon Papiss Cisse has reflected on his incredible performance against Chelsea in 2012.
Newcastle secured a historic 2-0 win over Chelsea in May 2012 and Papiss Cisse emerged as the hero.
The Senegalese striker’s goalscoring display stunned the Chelsea faithful, his brace securing a 2-0 triumph – Newcastle’s first league win at Stamford Bridge since 1986.

However, it was his second strike that would be forever etched in the memories of those in attendance.
Deep into stoppage time, Cisse conjured up a moment of sheer magic. Collecting a dropping ball from Shola Ameobi’s chest, he instinctively unleashed a half-volley with the outside of his foot from the corner of the 18-yard box.
“That goal is my passport,” Papiss Cisse said in an exclusive interview with FourFourTwo.
“People around the world know me because of it. As a striker, my first goal was perfect; with the second, I was lucky.
“The ball came to Shola Ameobi’s chest and he dropped it to me. I didn’t think twice: I took the shot and it went in. It was a great night against a big team and goalkeeper.”
The sheer audacity of Cisse’s strike left even the opposition in awe. “Didier Drogba even asked me, ‘Who are you? What did you eat?'” Cisse chuckles, reliving the moment.
“I still can’t explain that goal. People will score great goals, but that finish is only for me – it can’t happen to anyone else.”
