Following the continuous protest in the Federal University Lokoja, the management of the institution has announced the shutting down of academic activities till further notice.
DAILY POST reports that students had since Monday, February 17, barricaded the university gates following the death of their colleagues.
A trailer had rammed into the school shuttle bus, killing at least five persons instantly.
In a circular issued on Thursday by Dr Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, Registrar and Secretary to Council, and copied Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command Director, DSS Kogi State, the school management announced the closure of the school.
The circular urged all students in the campuses to immediately vacate “on/or before 12 noon today, Thursday, 20th February, 2025”.
It lamented that “despite magnanimous interventions from the State Government as well as frantic efforts and appeals by the University Management for calm”, the protest has continued.
