Maresca has come under pressure following a poor run of results, with the Blues slipping from second to sixth in the Premier League table after winning just two of their past nine league matches.
However, the Italian has received public backing from the club’s board, with director Jonathan Goldstein stating that the head coach is doing a “great job” and will remain in charge for the rest of the season.

“He’s doing a great job,” Goldstein told Bloomberg TV. “Chelsea started the season very well. The last six weeks have been, you know, finding their feet a little bit more.
“But Enzo has clearly done a great job in bringing the team together, bringing the talent through.”
What Maresca said
Maresca has welcomed the support and has reiterated his desire to win trophies with Chelsea.
“It is nice (to hear) and I really appreciate the relationship with the club since we started, said the Blues boss on Friday.
“They have always supported me, whether in the better moment in terms of results and in the worse moment in terms of results like we are having now. (The backing has come from) the sporting directors, the owners, all the club to be honest.”

Maresca also defended his previous comments about Chelsea not being ready to win the title this season. He insists that his words have been misinterpreted and that he is ambitious and determined to succeed at Stamford Bridge.
“I have been clear from day one: I am not here to survive, I am here to win games and to fight for titles. I said this many times,” he continued. “The problem is when you win games you look humble and when you lose games it looks like you lack ambition.
“Since day one when I joined this club, my intention has been to win games, win titles and bring this club to where they deserve to be.
“I am ambitious, the club is ambitious. We have the same manager, same players, same sporting directors, same owners as two months ago when we were second in the league. The only thing that has changed is we are dealing with many injuries and this affects the level of the team a little bit.”
What next for Chelsea?
Maresca’s men aim to respond to last week’s 3-0 hammering at Brighton in Saturday’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa.
