President Donald Trump of the United States on Saturday said his country was close to an agreement with Ukraine on sharing revenue from Ukrainian minerals as part of efforts to end the Ukraine war.
Trump stated this while speaking to a gathering of conservatives in National Harbor, Maryland, on the outskirts of Washington.
“I think we’re pretty close to a deal,” he said.
According to him, the United States wanted to recoup the billions of dollars in military aid Washington has given to Ukraine in its fight to repel Russian invaders.
The US president stated that the United States is asking for rare earths, oil or anything they could get.
Recall that Trump and the Ukrainian leader traded words of insult on each other a few days ago, when he denounced Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a dictator.
He, however, made a U-turn and said Russia truly invaded Ukraine.
