United States National Security Adviser, NSA, Michael Waltz has said that having Ukraine become a NATO member is not on the table.
Waltz spoke during an interview with Fox News on Monday.
“That is not back on the table. I do not see the United States having Ukraine enter into NATO,” Waltz said.
“We are absolutely committed to NATO at large, our Article Five treaty agreements with other NATO countries, but the security guarantees for Ukraine is a different conversation,” Waltz added.
Waltz’s comment is coming after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday that he was “ready” to resign as leader for ‘peace’ to reign in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy also suggested that he could swap it for NATO membership.
“Yes, I’m happy, if it is for the peace of Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said at a press conference in Kyiv.
“If you need me to leave this chair, I am ready to do that, and I also can exchange it for Nato membership for Ukraine.”
