Aruna, the African Cup men’s singles defending champion, has been drawn in Group 2 alongside Salifou Abdel-Kader of Benin Republic and Sabhi Myshaal of Tunisia.

The five-time winner is among the continent’s best table tennis players competing for prestigious continental titles and coveted tickets to the ITTF World Cup in Macao, China, in April.

Semi-finalists at the championship will earn their place in the global tournament.

Aruna faces a tough challenge to retain his title, with formidable opponents like Egypt’s Omar Assar, who is also targeting his sixth title, and rising stars like Tunisia’s Wassim Essid and Nigeria’s Matthew Kuti.

Ahead of the 2025 ITTF Africa Cup, defending champions Quadri Aruna and Egypt’s Dina Meshref are listed among the top stars registered.

The competition will take place at the El-Menzah Sports Hall in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia.

In the women’s singles, Egypt’s Dina Meshref, the title holder, will face a strong challenge from players like Hana Goda of Egypt, who is targeting her third title. The competition promises to be intense, with 21 players vying for four tickets to the ITTF World Cup.
