Copa del Rey: 8-goal thriller, two comebacks as Barcelona and Atletico played a sensational draw to set up tasty second-leg

'He has the ability' - Diego Simeone hails Barcelona coach ahead of fierce clash

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona served up a Tuesday night treat in the Copa de Rey semi-final, which ended with eight goals scored.

Either side saw a two-goal lead slip, as Atletico Madrid and Barcelona played a thrilling 4-4 draw in the first leg of their Copa Del Rey clash.

The beginning and end were Atletico’s, while Barcelona had the sizable chunk in the middle. The Rojiblancos shocked the crowd at Montjuic with two quick-fire goals from Julian Alvarez and Antoine Griezmann.

Roused by falling behind so early, the Blaugrana initiated a barrage of assaults on the Atleti goal, and before halftime, they were 3-2 up. They scored once more on the other side of the break and looked set to coast to victory before two late Atletico goals ensured it was all to play in the second leg at Wanda Metropolitano.
