What Ojomo said
Ojomo, who made history on February 9, 2025, by leading the Eagles to a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, emphasised the importance of American football as a pathway for Nigerian youths to access education and opportunities.
“I have a drive and motivation that stems from my upbringing as a Nigerian, and my passion for this country allows me to excel. Nigeria has helped me excel at the biggest stage,” Ojomo said.
“It is everything when you look at the amount of Africans, specifically Nigerians, that are in American football,” Ojomo noted.
He continued, “The most important thing is giving our youths an opportunity to get into American football. It is a pathway for education, high school and college degrees, and it is a pathway to make Nigeria bigger on a worldly view.”
Ojomo, who grew up playing soccer and basketball before finding success in American football, encouraged Nigerians to take advantage of opportunities and believe in themselves.
“Just believe you can do anything. I know Nigerians are great, and I believe that you should take advantage of opportunities and don’t let anyone deter you,” he concluded.
Ojomo’s visit to Nigeria is seen as a source of inspiration for young Nigerians, and his success in the NFL is a testament to the potential for Nigerians to excel in the sport.
