Zimbabwe coach Michael Nees believes that Nigeria’s Super Eagles could be defeated in their vital 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Uyo.
The Warriors have had a disappointing start to their qualifying campaign, earning only two points in four matches, while the Super Eagles have drawn three and not won any games.
Both currently have three points, with Nigeria sitting in fifth place, just one spot above Sao Tome and Principe, who are bottom of the group.
Despite Zimbabwe’s struggles in Group C, Nees believes his team can capitalise on the Super Eagles’ vulnerabilities.

The Herald quoted Nees, saying, “Like us, Nigeria have their back against the wall; they are like wounded lions who want to turn the page (after a poor start to the qualifiers). It will be an exciting game, and Nigeria are beatable in Uyo.”
The Super Eagles’ campaign has faltered, securing only three points in their last four matches, including a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe.
This poor performance resulted in the dismissal of former coach José Peseiro and the appointment of Eric Chelle to revitalise the team’s efforts in the qualifiers.
