Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado has confirmed that he wants to spend his entire career with the Catalan giants, despite strong interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a potential £67 million move to Old Trafford, while Chelsea reportedly approached Barcelona last summer to register their interest. However, Casado has made his stance clear.
“I hope to spend my entire career at Barcelona and retire here. It’s my dream, and this is the club I love,” Casado told Beteve. “My goal is to stay here as long as possible and finish my career at Barcelona.”
Casado has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign under Hansi Flick, making 35 appearances in the 2024-25 season, scoring once and providing six assists. However, he has found himself on the bench in recent weeks due to Frenkie de Jong’s impressive form.
“I knew this year would be important for me as a stepping stone to the first team. I’ve performed well thanks to the confidence of the coach and my teammates,” Casado said. “Frenkie is a fantastic player, and it’s normal he plays more. But I’m calm, confident, and will keep working hard.”
The young midfielder’s impressive displays have earned him a call-up to Spain’s UEFA Nations League squad for the semi-final clash against the Netherlands. Casado is one of seven Barcelona players in the squad, although notable names like Gavi and Alejandro Balde were left out.
“Being called up to the national team is every footballer’s dream. I will face it with enthusiasm and desire to perform well,” Casado added.
With a contract running until 2028 and his commitment to Barcelona unwavering, Casado appears set to become a key figure in the club’s midfield for years to come, despite interest from the Premier League giants.
