Saliba, who has been tipped to become one of the world’s top defenders, cited Ramos’ impressive trophy haul as justification for his praise.

Ramos, who spent 16 years at Real Madrid, won five La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies, among other accolades. His success on the pitch has made him one of the most decorated players of all time.
What Saliba said
Saliba, who had the opportunity to play against Ramos when Arsenal faced Sevilla, was eager to obtain the Spaniard’s shirt after the match.
Saliba acknowledged that other defenders, such as Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, are also exceptional players, he believes Ramos’ trophy cabinet sets him apart.
“We played against him last season and of course I wanted his shirt. For me, he is the best in history,” he said.
He added, “When you win, you can say you are the best.”
The Arsenal defender is aware that he still has work to do to reach Ramos’ level, particularly in terms of winning major trophies.
“I have to score more goals and help my team to win some trophies,” Saliba said.
Arsenal will face a tough test in the Champions League quarter-finals, where they will meet Ramos’ former club, Real Madrid.
