Senator Shehu Sani, former senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has itemized twelve factors that undermine education in Northern Nigeria, with insecurity as the topmost factor.
In a verified Facebook post on Monday, Senator Sani said that insecurity, terrorism, and banditry, including poor infrastructure, pose serious challenges.
According to him, “Cultural and religious barriers, low funding, poverty, teacher shortages, child labour, discrimination against girls, low access to technology, health challenges, and the increasing number of people living with disabilities, as well as the systemic retention of the street Almajiri system, neglect, misplacement, and mismanagement of resources by successive governments.”
He added that these issues require urgent attention.
Senator Sani gives reasons for poor quality of education in Northern Nigeria
Cultural and religious barriers, low funding, poverty, teacher shortages, child labour, discrimination against girls, low access to technology, health challenges, and the increasing number of people living with disabilities, as well as the systemic retention of the street Almajiri system, neglect, misplacement, and mismanagement of resources by successive governments.”
Not just in the north but also all part of the country.
This is the gosple truth he has make a very important point
This is a very serious case that need to be handled, this getting out of hand let goverment decide his fate rather than keeping him .
I really don’t know what else to say about this country and our leaders may God help us
He is spitting facts and it’s the North that depicts this the most.
I think , the government should invest more to schools for quality education.
It’s just in north also all over the country
Are these reasons sustainable? They are at advantage on all aspects compared to other tribes.
