Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, on Sunday foiled a retaliatory attack by bandits on Bilbis community, in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
DAILY POST gathered that the attack followed the killing of a notorious terrorists’ leader, Kachalla Jafaru, who was neutralized during a recent operation fire for fire with the terrorists in Bilbis.
It was also learnt that Jafaru was noted for kidnappings for ransom and terrorizing communities, including Hayin Gada and Kunchin Kalgo areas.
Sources revealed that he was a brother to the infamous bandit leader, Ado Aliero, who was one of the top wanted bandits’ kingpins.
A community source also told journalists that after Jafaru was neutralized, bandits in the area mobilized for reprisal attack.
The source said that security operatives were, however, alerted and they mobilized and unleashed a counter-operation at about 11:54 am.
The military, with support from CJTF members, successfully repelled the attack, neutralizing several bandits, leaving others with serious gun wounds, and recovering many motorcycles and weapons.
A villager, Umar Bilbis said that the security operatives evacuated five bodies of bandits on motorcycles and one in a vehicle, along with other confiscated items.
The military authority has not issued any official statement regarding the claims as of the time of filing this report.
