EPL: Why Man City drew 2-2 with Brentford – Guardiola

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted his team did not make “the right decisions in the final third” as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Brentford on Tuesday night.

The Premier League champions threw away a two-goal lead against the Bees.

Phil Foden’s brace seemed to have handed City all three points, but Yoanne Wissa pulled one back with eight minutes left.

Brentford drew level deep into stoppage time through Christian Norgaard’s bullet header.

“We’re a bit disappointed but at 2-0 up we didn’t manage to hold on to the lead and unfortunately we couldn’t close the game,” Guardiola told TNT Sports.

“Today we didn’t take the right decisions in the final third. I had the feeling that we didn’t take the right decisions in the final third to close the game.”

On the team being tired, Guardiola added: “With the absence of the central defenders, Rodri, with many things, we are not [at our best] and we didn’t take the right decisions.

“It’s fine, it’s not a good place to come. Unfortunately, we couldn’t win.”
