Group of Death? Super Eagles get defending champions Senegal in tough CHAN group


Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn into a tough group b at CHAN alongside defending champions Senegal.

Nigeria Super Eagles B will face a challenging lineup in Group D of the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN), which has been rescheduled to August 2025.

Pulse Sports reports that the group includes Senegal, Sudan, and the Republic of Congo. The tournament will still be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.

Joint hosts Kenya lead Group A, which features Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia. The opening match will see Kenya clash with 2018 champions Morocco.

In Group B, Tanzania will compete against Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic.

Meanwhile, Uganda heads Group C and will battle Niger Republic, Guinea, along with two wild card teams yet to be determined by the Confederation of African Football.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles B return to CHAN after six years.

Groupings are as follows

  • Group A: Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Zambia

  • Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic

  • Group C: Uganda, Niger Republic, Guinea, Wild Card 1, Wild Card 2

  • Group D: Senegal, Republic of Congo, Sudan, Nigeria

Nigeria’s new coach Eric Chelle was in Ikenne to visit the Super Eagles B team in their CHAN camp.

The newly appointed head coach, Eric Sekou Chelle, made an important stop to the Super Eagles B team at their training camp in Ikenne as part of his integration into the national setup.

As reported by Pulse Sports, Chelle arrived at the Remo Stars’ Sports Institute after flying from Abuja to Lagos on Tuesday morning in the company of key NFF staff led by Technical director and former interim Super Eagles boss Augustine Eguavoen.
