The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia has expressed sadness over the tragedy that struck the Okete community in Ohimini Local Government Area of the state on Thursday morning.
DAILY POST had reported how a truck rammed into a building, along the Otukpo/Oweto Expressway killing at least ten residents and injuring several others.
In a condolence message contained in a statement by his media aide, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia extended his condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Ohimini, and the Chairman of Ohimini Local Government Area.
The governor stated that “it is with a heavy heart that I extend my innermost sympathies to the families smitten by the tragic accident that occurred in the Okete community, Ohimini LGA.
“The loss of ten precious souls in such a bloody accident is a devastating tragedy that has left our state in grief.
“In these sad moments, I assure you that the entire government stands in accord with you. We share in your grief, and our thoughts are with the bereaved families as they console this unbelievable pain.”
He added that the government was committed to ensuring that meticulous investigations were carried out to prevent such incidents in the future.
