In a scathing blog post, Keys tore into Amorim’s recent comments, where the coach labelled his squad “maybe the worst team in the club’s history” following a 3-1 defeat to Brighton.

Keys recommends immediate Amorim sack

Keys did not hold back in his assessment of Amorim’s handling of United’s struggles, slamming the manager’s lack of optimism and his apparent unwillingness to adapt, and suggested his behaviour shows a desire to abandon the club.

“What the h*** was Ruben Amorim thinking when he said that yesterday? Is he mad? Why would you do that? Isn’t he the man charged with making things better?” Keys wrote.

Keys accused Amorim of alienating his squad and failing to instill belief during a challenging period saying, “It’s your job to fix it, not tell us ‘I only have one way’ and follow up by telling the world your players are s***. These are the very players you need to help you out of this mess.

“I said a couple of weeks ago I thought he was trying to get the sack. I’m even more convinced now. If I was his boss I’d call him in this morning and give him his wish.

A historic low for Manchester United

Amorim’s tenure has been nothing short of disastrous. With United sitting 13th in the Premier League, 14 points off the top four, the club has recorded its worst domestic start in 131 years.

The team has lost six of their 12 league games at home, as Amorim’s rigid tactical approach and insistence on sticking to his system, despite its failures, have drawn significant criticism.

Despite this, the Portuguese gaffer is ready to stick to his principles, saying, “We are going to suffer because I will continue to do the same. I am not going to change, no matter what.”

For a club that never finished below third in the Premier League under Sir Alex Ferguson, the current state of affairs is a bitter pill for fans to swallow.

Despite rare victories over teams like Manchester City and Southampton, the Red Devils’ inconsistency has left them adrift in the league with a relegation battle now becoming a reality.
