1.) Solar Technician Trainee

Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking motivated and eager individuals to join our team as Solar Technician Trainees.
  • This entry-level position offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills in the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
  • As a trainee, you will work under the guidance of experienced solar technicians and engineers to gain hands-on experience in the solar energy industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation of solar PV systems on residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
  • Learn to troubleshoot and repair solar PV systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in safety training and adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Help with the layout and assembly of solar modules, panels, and support structures.
  • Support the electrical wiring of solar PV systems, including the installation of inverters and other system components.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of solar PV systems.
  • Keep accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assist in inventory management and preparing materials and tools for job sites.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational training or coursework in electrical, mechanical, or related fields is a plus.
  • Strong interest in renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and principles.
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy equipment and perform manual labour.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced technicians.

2.) Operations & Maintenance Supervisor

Location: North-central and South-west part of Nigeria

Slots: 5 Openings

Description 

  • You will oversee the operations and maintenance of the company’s projects including MiniGrids, Commercial & Industrial Projects, ensuring optimal system performance, compliance with Health & Safety standards, and high system reliability.
  • You will lead a team of technicians, manage vendor collaborations, and ensure the seamless operation of the company’s solar PV deliverables are met.

Key Responsibilities
Operations Management:

  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of the company’s power projects to maintain peak performance.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze data, and promptly troubleshoot faults to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with service contractors to ensure efficient vendor-based support.
  • Supervise on-site inspections, repairs, and specialized services.

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Develop and implement Maintenance Job Routines (MJRs) and work plans.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and scheduled maintenance to ensure equipment efficiency and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts inventory, and equipment performance.

Corrective Maintenance:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software issues in solar power systems.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement improvement initiatives.

HSE and Compliance:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities meet Virtutis’s HSE requirements and comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including NEC (National Electrical Code) and OSHA standards.
  • Actively identify, mitigate, and close out safety hazards during maintenance activities.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit performance reports, incident records, and maintenance documentation.

Qualifications
Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar PV operations and maintenance.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, and storage solutions.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting, energy calculations, and system optimization.

Certifications:

  • COREN Registered Engineer (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Mini-Grid Design, SPVIS, NAPTIN).

Professional Memberships & Soft Skills:

  • Membership in professional associations is required.
  • Excellent problem-solving and team management abilities.

Travel Requirement:

  • Willingness to travel extensively to project sites.

3.) Mini Grid Project Coordinator (Solar / Photovoltaic)

Location: North-central and South-west parts of Nigeria

Slots: 5 Openings

Job Description

  • Virtuis Solaris is seeking a Solar/Photovoltaic Mini-grid Project Coordinator to join its projects in North East and South West Nigeria. The Solar Mini-grid Project Coordinator will carry out various technical tasks for off-grid renewable energy electrification projects in Nigeria.
  • The role focuses on design, simulations, technical standards, bill of quantities, and supervision of solar Pico, Micro, and Mini-grids from W to kW-scale. Some work on electrical distribution networks (i.e., LV distribution network of 1 to 10KM radius) is also envisioned.

Responsibilities
The Solar Mini-grid Project Coordinator will work in the following areas, listed according to priority:

Power Plant Design, Optimization, and Simulation:

  • Carry out technical tasks individually and collaboratively in teams.
  • Perform component sizing, power plant design and dimensioning, electrical calculations, bill of quantities, schematics, and drawings (knowledge of AutoCAD or similar software is expected).
  • Focus areas include rural electrification mini-grid plants, solar PV power plants, energy storage (lithium batteries), control and monitoring systems, and electricity distribution.

Construction Management:

  • Plan Solar Pico to Mini-grid construction and supervision.
  • Perform fieldwork supervising subcontractors for electrical, civil, and mechanical work, ensuring strict quality and timeline adherence.
  • Project Proposal Preparation:
  • Support the preparation of proposals, technical methodologies, bill of materials, budgets, and technical drawings.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Educational Background
Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years in electrical engineering with significant exposure to solar home installations and other sustainable energy sources.
  • Experience in clean-energy generation and low voltage distribution lines is required. Previous experience as an owner’s engineer is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD is required.
  • Knowledge of simulation software such as HOMER and PV SYST is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills, efficient designing, and process implementation abilities.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in the local language of the communities in South West and North Central is desirable but not mandatory.

4.) Energy System Design Engineer – Solar PV

Location: North-central and South-west parts of Nigeria

Job Summary

  • The Energy Systems Design Engineer is responsible for providing technical support by designing technical solutions, BOQs, and designs tailored to client-specific PV, storage, and hybrid energy solutions.
  • The role ensures that appropriate technical and engineering considerations and risk assessments are captured for bid or investment decisions. It also contributes significantly to commercial and technical impact evaluations during design, transfer to construction, and project/site management. For diversity, female applicants are highly encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer objectives and define strategies to win deals based on the project brief.
  • Conduct site surveys, energy audits, and analyze customer needs.
  • Prepare Solar PV solution BOQs and designs using tools such as Pvsyst, Homer Pro, and Helioscope.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team to prepare bids, proposal technical content, ensure conformance to RFP requirements, liaise with customers during sales, and coordinate with vendors.
  • Develop comprehensive technical offers.
  • Design systems using software such as AutoCAD or PC Schematic.
  • Create solar layout mock-ups and drawings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualification & Work Experience:

  • First Degree or Master’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics or Power Engineering.
  • Experience in preparing technical solution BOQs and designs using Pvsyst, Homer Pro, and Helioscope.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in system design and development of electrical and power systems.
  • Working experience in power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
  • Experience designing backup systems based on inverter solutions.
  • Knowledge of ESS/BESS storage solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to identify root-cause technical issues.

Personal & Work Skills:

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Flexible, reliable, assertive, and consistent, with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Strong team player.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • NSE & COREN Certified Engineer.

  • Knowledge of major engineering and design software, including ETAP, SACS, AutoCAD (2D & 3D), STAADPro, and PDMS.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
