Olympic finalist Tia Clayton and Sada Williams dropped winning performances at the Astana Indoor Meet in Kazakh.

Jamaican sprint sensation Tia Clayton and Barbados track queen Sada Williams got their indoor season underway on winning notes at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting in Astana.

Clayton marked her 2025 season indoor debut with a convincing victory by blazing to a new meeting record of 7.18s ahead of her twin sister Tina, who settled for third in 7.39s behind Portugal’s Lorene Bazolo in 7.36s.

The 20-year-old who had a breakout 2024 season by reaching the Paris Olympics 100m final and wrapped a Diamond League meeting win, will be gunning to prove her performances last year were no fluke with improvements on her indoor performance as the season progresses ahead of the world indoor and outdoor championships.

Meanwhile, Clayton’s training partner Williams also got a winning indoor start in the women’s 400m final by clocking a deserving 53.51s. The Olympic and World medallist is one to keep an eye on for the rest of the year.
