Nigeria’s Gift Orban was on target for the first time in the Bundesliga in Hoffenhiem’s thriller against Frankfurt.

Nigerian striker Gift Orban has made headlines after he scored his first Bundesliga goal for Hoffenheim, ending an eight-match goal drought on Sunday. 

The 22-year-old came off the bench during a thrilling match against Eintracht Frankfurt, which ended in a 2-2 draw at the PreZero Arena.

Orban’s moment of glory came just two minutes after he was introduced by coach Pellegrino Matarazzo. 

He tapped the ball into an empty net following a precise assist from Adam Hložek, levelling the score at 1-1 after Hugo Ekitike had given Frankfurt the lead with a penalty in the first half. 

This goal marked a huge milestone for Orban, who had not found the back of the net since his transfer from Lyon earlier in January, a streak that had fans expressing their relief on social media with comments like “Hallelujah” and “I am so proud of my Gift.”

The match itself was an intense end-to-end encounter, with Hoffenheim showing resilience throughout. After Orban’s equaliser, Frankfurt regained the lead through Ekitike’s second goal in the 71st minute. 

However, in dramatic fashion, Hlozek scored a stoppage-time equaliser to secure a point for Hoffenheim, lifting them four points clear of the relegation zone.

This performance not only reminds everyone of Orban’s potential impact at Hoffenheim but also the team’s determination to avoid relegation as they face a challenging season in the Bundesliga.

The team sits 15th with 18 points from 19 matches, just four points above the danger zone, while Frankfurt are third despite dropping two points on the road.
