Despite sketchy form at the start of the season for Martínez, the game against Lecce proved that the Argentine forward belongs in the hall of fame of Inter strikers.

Lautaro’s record-breaking goal for Inter

Martínez’ sensational left-footed strike in the first half put Inter 2-0 up and added another chapter to his remarkable Serie A journey.

The goal, his 112th in the league, saw him surpass Mauro Icardi (111) to become Inter’s second-highest foreign goal scorer in Serie A history.

The Argentine now trails only Hungarian icon István Nyers, who scored 133 goals for the club during his career.

Martínez’ achievement also puts him ahead of Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazário, who netted 49 goals in 68 Serie A appearances for Inter between 1997 and 2002.
