Derby County (2018-2019)

Lampard’s first managerial role was at Derby County in the Championship. He took over in May 2018 and, in his first season, led the team to the play-off final, which they lost to Aston Villa.
During this time, he was involved in a controversy with Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa over the ‘Spygate’ incident where a Leeds employee was caught observing Derby’s training session.
Despite the play-off final defeat, Lampard’s impressive first season at Derby attracted the attention of his former club, Chelsea.

Lampard returned to Chelsea as head coach in July 2019. In his first season, he guided the team to fourth place in the Premier League and the FA Cup final, which they lost to Arsenal.
Despite a significant summer spending spree ahead of his second season, a poor run of results led to his dismissal in January 2021.
He was replaced by Thomas Tuchel, who won the Champions League months after replacing the Englishman.
Lampard returned to Chelsea again in April 2023 as caretaker manager until the end of the season following the sacking of Graham Potter.
However, the team’s form did not improve under his leadership and they finished in the bottom half of the table for the first time since 1996.
Everton (2022-2023)

After a year out of management, Lampard was appointed Everton manager in January 2022, tasked with steering the club away from relegation.
He successfully guided them to safety in his first season; however, he was sacked in January 2023 with the club once again in a relegation battle.

Lampard’s most recent appointment came in November 2024 when he took over as manager of Coventry City in the Championship.

According to Transfermarkt, Frank Lampard has managed 209 games since August 2018, winning 90, drawing 43 and losing 76 (as of January 27, 2025).
Lampard was in charge of Derby County for 57 matches, winning 26, drawing 15 and losing 16. The Rams scored 103 goals and conceded 80 in the 2018-19 season (all competitions).
While Lampard managed 95 games across two spells at Chelsea, his 45 wins, 17 draws and 33 losses – the Blues scored 180 times and conceded 137 under the club legend – require some context.
The Englishman was in charge of 55 matches in his first spell in 2019-20, when Chelsea notched 29 victories, played out eight draws and lost 18 times, scoring 106 and conceding 84.
Lampard’s return as caretaker boss in the 2022-23 season saw the West London club lose eight of 11 fixtures, winning one game and drawing two. They scored nine times and let in 21.

During his spell as Everton boss from February 2022 to January 2023, the Toffees won 12 of their 44 matches, drawing eight and losing 24.
The Merseyside club found the back of the net 43 times and conceded 71 goals.
Since joining Coventry in November 2024, the Sky Blues have won seven of their 13 matches in all competitions, including a 5-4 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the third round of the FA Cup on January 11, 2025.
