The details 

The reports of a possible exit from Bayer Leverkusen emanated a few days ago, and the initial doubts were swept away when Xabi Alonso confirmed in his last press conference that the club were in active negotiations with a third party for the sale of Boniface. 

Earlier today, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the deal was close to happening, as the Saudi-based club had gotten the green light from the player. 

German-based Florian Plettenberg dropped the bombshell tonight that a total agreement had been reached for a fee in the excess of €60 million. The 24-year-old is said to have already passed his medicals and is set for an annual windfall of €15 million in wages. 

Boniface surpasses Iwobi 

As stated earlier, the reported €60 million is the second-highest fee paid to acquire a Nigerian talent. He is €17 million short of Victor Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille for €77 million. 

Alex Iwobi has two entries in the top five. His €30.45 million move to Everton from Arsenal was second and has now been bumped down to third. The €25 million deal that saw him swap the Toffees for Fulham is fifth. Kelechi Iheanacho’s €27.7 million fee from Manchester City to Leicester is fourth.
