Since Amorim took over from Erik Ten Hag in October, the Red Devils’ performances have been inconsistent. While the team has secured impressive results against top opposition, including wins against Manchester City and Arsenal and a draw against Liverpool, consistent victories have been elusive.

This inconsistency has led to speculation about Amorim’s job security, with rumours suggesting that INEOS and co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe are dissatisfied with the team’s progress.

However, Amorim has revealed that he recently had a brief conversation with Ratcliffe following their dramatic win against Southampton.

Amad Diallo: Why the Ivorian hat-trick hero has become a key player at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim

Amad Diallo has become the go-to player at Manchester United in the last two months, but what has really made the Ivorian undroppable since Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim took charge at Old Trafford?

What Amorim said

The victory, secured by a stunning 12-minute hat-trick from Amad Diallo after Manuel Ugarte’s own goal had given Southampton the lead, seemingly eased the tension surrounding the meeting.

Amorim acknowledged  fans’ desire for improved performances but emphasised the importance of winning games.

He said, “I had five minutes with him [Ratcliffe] to talk about different things.

“It was not a good game, but the result helped the conversation! We continue doing our job,” Amorim told the media.

“Today it was more important to win. I know the fans want to see so much better football, but we need to win games. We managed to win and we are going to prepare for the next game,” he stated.

INEOS is believed to keep faith in Amorim and support the young manager until the end of the season when a review will take place.
