Arsenal legend Paul Merson has confidently predicted that the Gunners will emerge victorious in their highly anticipated London derby against Chelsea. With Arsenal’s recent dominance in this rivalry, Merson believes they will find a way to outshine the Blues once again.
In their previous meeting at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea managed to earn a point after Pedro Neto canceled out Gabriel Martinelli’s opener. However, Arsenal’s 5-0 demolition of Chelsea in the corresponding fixture last season still looms large.
Mikel Arteta, however, expects a much tighter contest this time. He acknowledged Chelsea’s progress under Enzo Maresca and emphasized the need for Arsenal to control possession and keep the Blues away from their strengths.

Arteta praised Chelsea’s aggressive pressing and individual quality but stressed that Arsenal must impose their style of play to dominate the game. He believes his side must be at their best to secure all three points.
Paul Merson, on the other hand, criticized Arteta’s decision to leave Raheem Sterling out during Arsenal’s clash against Manchester United. He felt Sterling’s absence cost Arsenal the win in a crucial game.
With Arsenal currently 15 points behind Liverpool and only eight points ahead of Manchester City, Merson warned that a loss to Chelsea could drag the Gunners back into the top-four battle.

Merson also pointed out Chelsea’s struggles in attack without Nicolas Jackson. He believes Christopher Nkunku is more suited to a No.10 role and cannot fill the void of a traditional striker.
Despite Chelsea’s recent improvements, Merson remains confident that Arsenal’s quality will prevail. He predicts a 2-0 victory for the Gunners to strengthen their position in the league table.
