Former Juventus midfielder and vice-president Pavel Nedved has shared his thoughts on the eternal debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

What Nedved said
In a 2021 interview, Nedved who won the Ballon d’Or praised both players for their impact in the round leather games.

He said, “Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi are the best. It will be a huge clash against Barcelona and a fascinating encounter because it will allow what, in my opinion, are still today the two best players in the world, Ronaldo and Messi, to face each other.”

Nedved, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2003, acknowledged the incredible talent of both players, opting not to pick a favorite.
However, in a 2015 interview with Mundo Deportivo, he did single out Messi for praise.
“He’s an incredible player. I don’t know what to think when I watch Messi play. He’s been playing at a high level for many years, but now he’s in a spectacular moment, maybe one of the best of his career,” he said.
Nedved’s own illustrious career spanned over a decade, with notable stints at Lazio and Juventus.
His impressive performances earned him a €45 million transfer to Juventus, where he led the team to historic UEFA Champions League final in 2003.
He was named World Footballer of the Year by World Soccer magazine in 2003, he also won the European Footballer of the Year award over Thierry Henry and Paolo Maldini.
