The Belgian League celebrated the fastest goals in the last decade, with Super Eagles’ Victor Osimhen leading the pack.

The Belgian League recently celebrated a remarkable milestone in football history, hailing Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for scoring the fastest goal in the league’s history.

Back in May 2019, during a match between Sporting Charleroi and Antwerp, Osimhen netted a goal just eight seconds into the game, setting a new record for the Belgian First Division A.

This astonishing feat occurred at the Bosuilstadion in Deurne, where Osimhen capitalised on a defensive mix-up by Antwerp.

The then 20-year-old forward quickly seized the loose ball, sprinted into the penalty area, and fired a right-footed shot past goalkeeper Sinan Bolat.

Before this record-setting moment, Osimhen had already made headlines by winning the prestigious Belgian Golden Shoe.

His goal against Antwerp was one of 20 goals across competitions for the talented Nigerian, who showed his exceptional talent and scoring ability during his loan spell at Charleroi from Wolfsburg.

This performance solidified his reputation as one of Nigeria’s standout and rising stars across Europe at the time.

In recognition of Osimhen’s achievement, the Belgian Jupiler League took to Instagram to celebrate his record alongside other fastest goals from the past decade.

The post highlighted Osimhen’s remarkable speed and skill, tagging him in their tribute. In response, Osimhen expressed his gratitude with a love emoji in the comments section.

As he continues his career on loan with Galatasaray from SSC Napoli, Osimhen’s record-breaking goal remains a significant highlight of his time in Belgium and a testament to his potential as a top-tier striker on the international stage.

Since that record-breaking goal, the now 26-year-old has gone on to become Africa’s best player (2023) after leading Napoli to a first Serie A title in 33 years.
