Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface hailed Nathan Tella’s goal after reports of his transfer to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia had not gone through.
Just a few days before the January transfer closed, Boniface was linked with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr.
The Bayer Leverkusen striker was close to making a switch to play alongside five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, the deal was reported to have fallen through, and the Saudi Arabian side opted for Aston Villa forward Jon Duran instead.
Bayer Leverkusen’s director, Simon Rolfes, has revealed that Victor Boniface will not be leaving for Al Nassr.
Victor Boniface’s reported move to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr fell through despite intense rumour.
Boniface reacts to Tella’s goal
Boniface, who had been quiet on X since the reported move, broke his silence to support his teammate Nathan Tella during Leverkusen’s match against Sparta Prague in the UEFA Champions League.
Tella, who was playing for Leverkusen, scored during the game, and Leverkusen’s official X account shared the moment.
To express his support for the Super Eagles winger, Boniface left the comment, “My guy,” in response to the post.
The forward increased Leverkusen’s lead in the 64th minute of play by scoring a rebound and his second goal of 2025 in seven games.
Xabi Alonso’s side went on to claim a 2-0 victory over Victor Olatunji’s Sparta Prague, securing an automatic spot in the next round of the UEFA Champions League.
