Since joining Bologna from AZ in 2023, Beukema has been a consistent presence in their defense, playing a crucial role in their Champions League campaign. Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Chelsea had scouts present during Bologna’s recent victory over AC Milan in Serie A. However, the Blues face competition from Juventus, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid, all of whom are monitoring the defender’s progress.

Despite not yet being capped by the Netherlands, Beukema has long been admired by Liverpool manager Arne Slot. The Reds boss previously attempted to sign him while managing Feyenoord, describing Beukema as a “very good player” during his time at Go Ahead Eagles.

The player himself has also hinted at his ambitions for a future move to the Premier League. In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Beukema revealed his admiration for English football, stating: “I have ambitions and hope one day to play in the Premier League or for another big club. I once visited Upton Park with my father, and I was really impressed by the atmosphere. If a great club like Liverpool came along, I’ll be glad.”

“I could tell straight away that he [Slot] was a top coach. But I chose AZ Alkmaar instead, not because of him, but because of the situation at the time. Feyenoord had a tough season before Slot arrived, and Alkmaar was much more stable.

I was captain at Go Ahead Eagles, and I expect my teammates to go all in. It seemed like some Feyenoord players back then didn’t give their all. I told Mr. Slot, ‘I don’t know if I can play with these kinds of players. Will this change?’ He reassured me, but I was more relaxed choosing AZ.”

With Beukema performing at a high level in Serie A and the Champions League, interest in him is expected to intensify as the summer transfer window approaches. Chelsea, Liverpool, and a host of other clubs will likely be monitoring his situation closely.
