Cundy believes Chelsea should move for Aaron Ramsdale, who has struggled for game time since leaving Arsenal for Southampton last summer.

Despite making nearly 100 appearances for the Gunners, Ramsdale was displaced by David Raya before opting for a move in search of more minutes. However, his decision has backfired, with Southampton sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table and facing relegation.

Cundy argues that dropping into the Championship may push Ramsdale to seek a summer transfer, and Chelsea should be ready to pounce. “I would definitely have Ramsdale. That’s an improvement,” he said on talkSPORT.

Other Goalkeeping Options on Chelsea’s Radar

Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher has also been mentioned as a potential target. The Irish international has struggled for playing time at Anfield, particularly with Alisson returning from injury.

With Chelsea’s goalkeeping struggles continuing, reinforcements may be necessary.

Cundy highlighted the extent of the problem: “Sanchez got the gloves, but over the last three months, it’s been obvious that he’s suffering. There have been a lot of mistakes leading to goals. I think Chelsea will look to replace him unless they believe [Djordje] Petrovic, who is out on loan, is good enough.”

Maresca Stands by Jorgensen Despite Recent Error

Despite Jorgensen’s costly mistake against Aston Villa, Maresca has backed his goalkeeper and suggested he will retain his place for Chelsea’s next game.

“He is okay,” Maresca said in his pre-match press conference. “He feels a little sad or upset because he recognizes the mistake, but overall, he is okay.”

The Chelsea boss also dismissed the idea of constantly rotating players based on individual errors. “If we need to change players every time there is a mistake, we would be changing players every game.”

Must-Win Games Ahead for Chelsea

Looking ahead, Maresca emphasized the importance of Chelsea’s final 12 Premier League matches, beginning with bottom-placed Southampton.

“I don’t trust games like this they can be tricky,” he warned. “When you are at Chelsea, every game is one we must prepare to win. From now on, all 12 games are must-win for us.”
