Edozie Njoku dumps APGA, emerges National Chairman of NRM

Appointment of Permanent Secretaries was discretionary when I came in 2019 – Makinde

A former factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Edozie Njoku, has dumped the party.

Edozie Njoku has also emerged the National Chairman of the National Rescue Mission, NRM following a national convention held Abuja on Friday.

The former APGA chieftain became the new National Chairman of the NRM following the resignation of Isaac Chigozie Udeh from the position during the convension.

Chigozie stepped down to take the position of the National Organising Secretary of the party.

DAILY POST reported how Njoku conceded defeat, saying he would comply with the judgment recognising Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the National Chairman of the party.

This was after the Ezeokenwa, Victor Oye-led faction of the party, backed by the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, was recognised by the Supreme Court.

Addressing the press after his emergence as the NRM National Chairman, Edozie vowed to take the party to another ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said, “We have now gotten a bigger platform, a national platform, to be able to express ourselves and all that victory, that big grammar we’ve been speaking, let us start seeing it happen as a political party.

“Most people in Nigeria know what we went through in APGA and then, we thank God.”

On Chigozie stepping aside for him: I’m really humbled. I have seen something here today which I never believed can happen in Nigeria.

“And every day we learn. I never believed it existed in the dictionary of my dear country, which is selflessness, and it will be so degrading, it will be so unfortunate if I do not mention it.”
