Chelsea defender, Marc Cucurella has urged teammate, Robert Sanchez to work and stay out of spotlight.

Cucurella said this while backing Sanchez to bounce back from his recent struggle.

Sanchez held off strong competition from Dorde Petrovic to nail down his spot as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper at the start of the season under manager Enzo Maresca.

But the Spain shot-stopper has made a series of errors in the Premier League this season that have raised serious questions over his position in Maresca’s squad.

There are suggestions that Maresca could drop Sanchez as his first-choice goalkeeper.

However, Maresca dropped Sanchez for Filip Jörgensen in Chelsea’s Premier League 2-1 win over West Ham United on Monday.

Speaking to AS, Cucurella said when asked about Maresca’s decision to drop Sanchez

“It’s difficult. I think it is also important for him to work and spend a little time out of the spotlight.

“All the players who have come here have had tough moments.

“The important thing is that he is well and that he continues working hard because surely the opportunity will come again and, when it does, he will be ready.”
