The former Los Blancos forward finally admitted that the Argentine star is the better player

In a recent interview, Real Madrid legend Ronaldo Nazario provided an answer relevant to the GOAT debate. 

The retired Brazilian striker is the greatest striker of all time for many, despite his injury-blighted career. However, he did not achieve enough to enter the greatest footballer of all time debate. That honour is typically reserved for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hence, there was controversy when Delima made the bold claim that he was a superior football player to his namesake, the Portuguese and Al Nassr star, Cristiano. 

What Ronaldo said 

Pele and Diego Maradona are also part of the greater GOAT argument; however, the recency of Messi and Ronaldo’s exploits and the simultaneity of their peaks have meant the debate between both is tastier. 

Messi or Cristiano is almost a template question involving footballers or football coaches, as fans are eager to know where allegiances lie. 

That was not the question the 2002 World Cup winner was asked in his recent interview; however, his response is quite instructive, and fans have latched onto it. 

In an iteration of the social media-famous “this or that” game, Ronaldo was offered some names of players alongside his. He was tasked with deciding if the player was superior to him. 

“Ronaldo or Cristiano?” R9 was asked, and he confidently named himself. However, when the question was Messi or himself, Ronaldo Nazario, after a brief deliberation, copped to being inferior to the Argentine, as he replied, “Messi.”

For the fans of the Barcelona legend, this was an indirect endorsement from Delima; a point on the scorecard for their guy in the raging GOAT debate against Ronaldo.
