United States of America tech billionaire, Elon Musk has asked citizens of Germany to vote for Alternative for Germany, AfD, party, in the Sunday, February 23, 2025 general election.

Musk, who became US president Donald Trump’s adviser, disclosed this in a video he reposted on his official X account.

AfD is a far-right, populist, and anti-immigration party, Musk said, that could decide the fate of Europe and maybe the world.

“Could decide the fate of Europe, maybe the fate of the world,” he said, and called on the German people to vote for the AfD party.

This comes as Musk on Sunday, the d-day of Germany’s election pinned down a post on his X account with AfD party.

Polls showed that incumbent Olaf Scholz’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) is struggling to get the people of Germany’s support in the Sunday election.

Apart from AfD, other main opposing parties are the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and its Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union (CSU).

DAILY POST reports that in the run-up to the election in Germany, Musk has openly supported AfD in the past months through X, a social media he owned.

In January, Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, accused Musk of directly intervening in Germany’s election and, by extension, elections in Europe.

Similarly, the German government in December last year had also accused Musk of trying to influence its election.
