I feel for him – Ex-Liverpool defender concerned for Man Utd star after Brighton misery

Bruno Fernandes

A former Liverpool defender has expressed concern for a Manchester United player following their defeat to the Seagulls.

Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has shown sympathy for a Manchester United player after the Red Devils’ 3-1 defeat by Brighton on Sunday.

Man Utd vs Brighton

Brighton secured a 3-1 victory at Manchester United, with goals from Yankuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter.

Bruno Fernandes had briefly levelled the score from the penalty spot for the hosts, only for the away side to score twice for their third consecutive Premier League win at Old Trafford.

Despite a creditable draw at Liverpool and an Amad-inspired comeback victory over Southampton either side of eliminating Arsenal in the FA Cup in recent weeks, the defeat highlighted United’s inconsistency in the league under manager Ruben Amorim.

The loss marks another disappointing Old Trafford result for Amorim, with United losing four of their last five league home matches.

What Nicol said

Speaking on ESPN, Nicol stated his concern for United captain Bruno Fernandes, citing his unrewarded effort.

“The one guy I feel sorry for is Bruno Fernandes,” Bruno Fernandes is trying everything to get his team going, and he can’t do it on his own. I don’t know where the next win is coming for Manchester United.”

What next for Manchester United?

United host Rangers in the Europa League on January 23 before travelling to Fulham three days later.
