Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest star Ola Aina endured a challenging night out at the AFCON 2023 final.
Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest star Ola Aina is keeping it real about his rough night at the AFCON 2023 final against Ivory Coast.
Aina, 28, who has been one of the Premier League’s standout right-backs this season, found himself up against the blistering pace and skill of Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra in the final showdown at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Abidjan last February.
The 23-year-old Ivorian winger made life miserable for him, leaving Aina scrambling to keep up.

Appearing on an upcoming episode of Culture Cams, Aina admitted just how bad it got as well as his parents reaction to his torment on the pitch.
‘I got cooked by everyone, bro. Even my dad was like, ‘Olaoluwa… what happened? What happened there?’ I was like, ‘Dad… not now…’ Even my mum was back home, and she sent me a VN (voice note) like, ‘Ola, why did you let that little boy go past you like that?’
Bouncing back and eyeing Champions League football

Nigeria’s Ola Aina hits a century of points on FPL.
Despite the AFCON setback, Aina is thriving in England.
When asked if he considers himself one of the Premier League’s best right-backs, he humbly replied modestly, “I’m just doing the Lord’s work.”
And his faith in Nottingham Forest’s fairytale season is unshaken.
The club is currently third in the Premier League, sitting ahead of football giants Manchester City, Chelsea, and even Manchester United—with Aina playing an integral role in their success so far.
