I know his plan — Osimhen reveals conversation with Eric Chelle ahead of AFCON and WCQs

There's no player like Osimhen — Expert tells Galatasaray how to beat Mourinho's Fenerbahce

Victor Osimhen is ready to help Nigeria achieve their AFCON and World Cup ambitions under the tutelage of Eric Chelle.

A few weeks ago, pictures made the rounds on social media showing new Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle on a sort of European tour, in which he met some of the big names in the Super Eagles dressing room.

However, there was no picture of him meeting Victor Osimhen, arguably the biggest name in the dressing room, and it led to speculations. The Galatasaray ace confirmed recently that he has spoken to Chelle, and he knows what the Malian demands of them as they approach the first Super Eagles camp under his tutelage.

What Osimhen said

Speaking with a Nigerian journalist in Turkey, Osimhen was quizzed about the Super Eagles AFCON chances after the draws, which place the three-time winners in Group C, along with Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda.

The Super Eagles are the top-seeded team in the group and, as such, are expected to win it; however, Osimhen calls for caution, as he is aware of the unpredictability of AFCON.

“It’s not going to be easy, just like we all know; this is African football; this is AFCON,” Osimhen said, per Oluwashina Okeleji.

While he maintains the games will not be easy, Osimhen is hopeful of Nigeria’s chances with Eric Chelle at the helm, after having spoken to the Malian.

“You can get a lot of surprises, but we are going to take each game as they come,” he said.

“We have a new coach. I spoke with him a couple of times, and I know the kind of objectives he set for the team and the players.

“I’m looking forward to the first training of the games so we can also feel his presence and know what exactly we need to do.”

However, the first agenda for Chelle’s Super Eagles is the World Cup qualifier fixtures against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March. Osimhen said he had his teammates are determined to right their wrongs after a poor start that has left them fifth in a group of six.
