According to Gary Lineker, who met Salah at Liverpool’s training ground last month, the Egyptian star hinted that he might be tempted by a lucrative offer elsewhere.
What Lineker said
Lineker, speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, recalled his conversation with Salah, saying the Egyptian want to play in Japan.
“He asked me, ‘how old were you when you finished?’ And I said, ‘well, English football I finished when I was 32 and then I went to play in Japan for a couple of years’. And he went, ‘ahh, you went for the money did you?’ And I said, ‘well yeah I suppose so’. And he went, ‘…Yeah, I might do the same’,” he said.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Salah’s on-field performance remains impressive, with 25 goals across all competitions this season.
Mohamed Salah was the star of the show as Liverpool defeated Bournemouth 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium.
His goal-scoring power has helped Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table, with a six-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.
