With an outstanding start to the 2025 season, Jacious Sears revealed her goal on breaking the women’s indoor 60m world record.
US sprint sensation Jacious Sears has been on exceptional form this season, and it’s no surprise she has her eyes on breaking the 60m indoor World Record (WR) that has stood for 32 years.
The 23-year-old with an outstanding start to the 2025 indoor season, has stayed unbeaten and currently tops the world list with a personal best of 7.02s clocked at the Millrose Games last weekend.
Following her world-leading time, Sears in a post-race interview with Flotrack said she wants Irina Privalova’s WR of 6.92s that has stood since 1993.
“Oh yeah, I want it bad, I want it,” said the NCAA standout athlete for the University of Tennessee who’s running in her first professional season this year.

When Nike extended Sha’Carri Richardson’s ambassadorial deal valued around $20,000,000, many feared it was a ‘risky’ investment. However, recent events have proven otherwise as recent success has made her sponsors proud.
When asked what she needs to do to get it, the talented speedster said: “I’m just continuing to run the race model that my coach Ross, coach Garner is giving me. I think that the more that I execute it, the faster my time will be,” she said.
Last year, Sears blazed her way to international recognition when she registered a 10.77s (wind +1.6) at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Florida – the second fastest ever in collegiate athletics and ended as the third fastest in the world.
Her jaw-dropping time was just 0.02 seconds off the collegiate record set by current 100m world champion Sha’Carri Richardson in 2019 when she ran for Louisiana State University.

Sadly, an injury-ending season derailed her Olympic dream of making the US team.
With the heartbreak behind and back to her best, Sears has consistently proven this year she’s a force to be reckoned with and will be gunning to have her breakout season with the ultimate goal of making and winning a medal at the World Championships in August.
She stands as favourite to win the US indoor 60m title and with a good chance to challenge for the world title at the world indoor championships in March.
