The National Center of Forensic Medicine has begun the process of identifying the four bodies handed over on Thursday by Hamas, according to Israeli media reports.

Hamas has claimed that the remains belong to slain hostages Shiri Silberman Bibas, her young children Ariel and Kfir Bibas, and Oded Lifshitz.

Authorities say the process could take time as experts work to confirm the identities and cause of death with certainty.

The Health Ministry has assured the public that forensic teams, including medical examiners and laboratory staff, are conducting the identification with the “utmost compassion” for the families.

The ministry also urged the public to: “Avoid spreading rumors and rely only on official updates. Respect the privacy of grieving families. Refrain from watching Hamas propaganda, warning that repeated exposure to distressing content can harm mental health.

“Explain the situation to children in age-appropriate terms rather than exposing them to graphic material. Support loved ones in distress and encourage them to seek help if needed.”
