Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta has finally opened up on the future of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho.
Iheanacho’s struggles
The 28-year-old joined the record Europa League champions last summer as a free agent, but he has only managed 11 appearances this season, in which he scored three goals.
Iheanacho last played for Sevilla in mid-December, when he was yanked off at half-time in the 1-0 victory against Celta Vigo. Los Nervionenses have played four other matches since then.
His situation has sparked links to other clubs, with Pimenta confirming it just days ago. However, he is still in the squad, and the former Las Palmas coach is seemingly unsure of how to integrate him.

What Pimenta said
Speaking in an interview with Spanish publication AS, Pimenta was asked about Iheanacho and the reason for his struggles.
“I don’t know the reason, but there are players who fit in better in one environment than in another,” the 50-year-old said.
“For whatever reason, Iheanacho hasn’t performed here at the level we all expect, including him.
“With his CV there are some things that can’t be explained. Watching him train, you say, “This kid has plenty of quality.”
There have been suggestions that the Nigerian is suffering from a weight problem. However, Pimenta dismissed the notion, stating that the striker is in ideal physical condition.
“Overweight? He’s not. We’re strict about that. After the injury, I don’t know, but before Christmas, he was at his weight.”
