International Road to Research Scholarship 2025 at Macquarie University, Sydney

Macquarie University, Sydney, is inviting applications for the International Road to Research Scholarship (iR2R) for the 2025 Fall intake.

This prestigious scholarship supports international students undertaking short research projects as part of the Master of Research (MRes) program.

Benefits

The scholarship offers the following benefits:

  • Tuition Fee Offset: Covers full tuition for up to one year.
  • Stipend: A generous living allowance of $38,500 per annum to support students during their studies.

  • Program: Master of Research (MRes)
  • Area of Study: Open to all disciplines offered at Macquarie University.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be international onshore applicants (not Australian/New Zealand citizens or permanent residents).
  • Reside in Sydney, Australia, during their candidature.
  • Meet the English language requirements for graduate research degrees.
  • Fulfill the Master of Research admission criteria, including obtaining confirmation of supervision from an eligible Macquarie University researcher (compulsory for FMHHS, desirable for other faculties).
  • Hold or obtain a valid Australian Student Visa by the commencement of the program.

The scholarship is not available to applicants who:

  • Already hold a research degree at the same or higher level.
  • Are currently enrolled in a Macquarie graduate research program.
  • Have a visa that does not permit full-time study until the end of 2026.
  • Are receiving another major award or scholarship.
  • Submit incomplete or misleading applications.

Selection Process: Macquarie University will rank candidates based on academic merit, such as the Weighted Average Mark (WAM) or Grade Point Average (GPA).
