Lookman over Garnacho: Cassano advices Napoli on ideal Kvaratskhelia replacement

Paris Saint-Germain star recounted the experience of playing with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Portuguese star Vitinha has revealed how tasking it was for him as a midfielder in that PSG side that cast Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Vitinha joined the Parisians in the summer of 2022, and for one season, he was teammates with the star-studded attacking trident before they sequentially left the club.

Lookman over Garnacho: Cassano advices Napoli on ideal Kvaratskhelia replacement

Following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s departure to PSG, Napoli have been told by one of Italian football greats to replace him with Ademola Lookman, instead of Manchester United’s electric winger.

What Vitinha said

While no other team boasted of the offensive power of Paris Saint-Germain, the trio’s low defensive contributions meant more work for the rest of the team.

“It was not easy,” Vitinha said. “Even in the games, with the chores I had. But I will remember it for the rest of my career. Because I played with the best. That is a thing I will tell my children and my grandchildren, one day.”

Speaking specifically about Mbappe, who was the last of the trio to leave—only last summer—Vitinha explained how they have managed to replace him.

Ahead of their clash in the Champions League against Manchester City, the 24-year-old explained that while Mbappe’s individual quality was impossible to replicate, they have improved themselves as a unit, suggesting they are an even better team than with the France national team captain.

“It’s a different season,” he told the Times. “We don’t have a problem talking about it. Kylian is one of the best, if not the best. We knew it would be difficult. You can’t replace him directly.

“But you replace him with the team. That’s what we did. But that takes time. I think we’re collectively better and we have shown it already. Sometimes the goals aren’t coming but we have a lot of great forwards.”
