Super Eagles star Chidera Ejuke has supported Kelechi Iheanacho, a teammate from Sevilla, to improve his performance.

Ejuke and Iheanacho joined the Spanish side last summer from CSKA Moscow and Leicester City, respectively.

However, Iheanacho has struggled on all fronts, hardly receiving minutes or goals, whereas Ejuke has adapted well and even won the club’s Player of the Month award for September.

Following the forward’s poor form, he has been linked with a January move away from the club, with a return to England on the table.

Sevilla star Chidera Ejuke has said he is thrilled to be playing again after missing a lot of time because of a hamstring injury.

Ejuke speaks on Iheanacho’s form

About Kelechi Iheanacho’s dismal performance, Ejuke acknowledged the former Leicester City attacker lacks confidence.

He said in an interview with El Correo, “I wouldn’t say things aren’t going well for him. I think as a player you obviously need confidence and sometimes it doesn’t happen right away, but I think it’s all a matter of confidence and when you get the confidence you get going. For all players, it’s normal to go through this.

He did, however, support his fellow Nigerian to reject exit negotiations and make things better at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

Ejuke had a high-grade hamstring strain during Sevilla’s 5-1 loss to Barcelona in October, which kept him out of play for 81 days.

Having entered the game for the last eight minutes of his team’s 2-1 victory over Girona on Saturday, he is putting a lot of effort into becoming fully recovered.

Sevilla are currently four points outside of the UEFA Europa League position in 11th place in La Liga.
